Key Responsibilities
* Drive academic excellence by delivering high-quality English lessons across the Secondary section, aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level frameworks.
* Inspire a love for language and literature, developing students' critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills through creative writing, argumentative essay structure, and sophisticated reading comprehension.
* Architect engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs and English proficiency levels, incorporating contemporary teaching methodologies to improve student literacy and oracy.
* Develop and curate innovative educational resources, including worksheets, reading lists, and digital materials, to support student learning and achievement.
* Lead the development of detailed curriculum maps, ensuring alignment with the latest Cambridge syllabus changes and updates.
* Assess student work using Cambridge-standard marking schemes and rubrics, providing actionable feedback to refine writing style and analytical depth.
* Manage student progress through rigorous tracking, mock examinations, and internal assessments, identifying areas for targeted interventions and support.
* Foster a school community that values English language and literature, leading or supporting activities such as Debate Clubs, Creative Writing workshops, and School Magazines.
* Organize and participate in literary events, including Literary Week, Poetry Slams, and Drama productions, to promote a love for language and performance.
* Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders, providing regular updates on academic performance and behavioral development.
* Drive student success by providing targeted English language support and interventions, ensuring all students have the opportunity to excel in English language and literature.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives, promoting a culture of academic excellence and a love for learning.
